The pandemic effected so many couples’ big wedding day dreams, some which I have wrote about already, like here and here. Unfortunately, Gina and Jake were another one of those couples that had their wedding day plans turned completely upside down.
Gina reached out to me asking me to capture their wedding day at the beautiful Luella House property *(which has now been sold, and the owner now does weddings at the property right down the hill from it, called The Willow Creek Inn. So I will be referring to it as that now in this blog post). She told me that this was the THIRD time rescheduling their wedding date, due to so many things going wrong because of the pandemic. They actually even already had another photographer booked for their big day before they had found me, but in the end they weren’t available on their new wedding date. So they were back on the search all over again for another photographer!
My heart truly felt for them, so I was absolutely thrilled when Gina then found me and I still had their date available! I was so happy to be able to at least take one thing off of their plate for them, after everything they had been through already in this wedding planning process. I was also so excited to find out that Jake is a marine veteran. I always LOVE getting to serve veterans, after everything that they sacrifice for us. Marines especially have an extra special place in my heart, since that’s what my husband was and I even got to live on the marine base with him for a few years during his time in!
Even after everything they went through, their wedding day ended up being absolutely perfect. All of their details came together flawlessly and it was the most beautiful spring day in May (my favorite time of year to shoot weddings)! We got to explore around the beautiful Willow Creek Inn property for their portraits and then even got a gorgeous sunset at the end of the day!
Even though they had to face so many obstacles to get here, I think that almost just makes you appreciate the day even more. It’s always worth it in the end when you finally get to call yourselves husband and wife. I’m so beyond happy for them that they were finally able to celebrate their marriage and am so excited to share some of my favorite images from their beautiful day!
