Phoenix Arizona Temple Wedding

When people think of a photographer’s job, most probably only picture the “glamorous” parts about it. Being creative, coming up with fun new poses, taking pictures of a gorgeous couple in their wedding attire, and then you go home. While, yes, those are all parts of it for sure, there are certain situations that can come with the job that aren’t quite as glamorous.

When it came to this particular Phoenix Arizona Temple wedding day, our sticky (literally) situation was just how HOT it was on this summer day. After their ceremony inside the temple, it was time for Maddie and Rick’s bride and groom portraits outside. I was starting to wonder how they would do posing in the heat for so long. Not to mention, they were also in a long wedding gown and thick suit, which makes everything so much hotter with all the fabric and layers.

Normally, my main goal during portrait sessions is to find the best glowy light in the background (if you’ve been following me for a while or worked with me in the past, you know I’m ALL about the good light!) But when it came to Maddie and Rick’s portraits, our main goal in the heat was to find SHADE. And to make their portraits go as quickly as possible, so I could get them back into the A/C!

The reason I am sharing all of this though is so you can know the full story and be just as amazed as I was at how much these two totally ROCKED their portraits and made it seem like we were in ideal weather!! They ended up being such troopers and were TOTAL champs throughout the whole process. They agreed to any pose I suggested and went along with all of my ideas, all while smiling throughout it the whole entire time, even in the triple digit heat. As you look through the pictures, you can see they were such rock stars you would NEVER even know how hot it was!!

Also, even though this Prescott girl can’t seem to hang in the Phoenix summer heat, I would honestly go back to shoot at this location any day in a heart beat! All the different colorful flowers, lush greenery, and the amazing architecture of the temple, made it a photographer’s dream.

I had a lot of fun putting this blog post together and getting to look back on this day and hope you all do too! And leave a comment letting me know if you agree that Maddie and Rick did such a great job making it look like the 100+ degree weather was nothing at all!!
