It’s always frustrating when things don’t go as planned. But do you ever stop to think that, maybe, this was actually how it was supposed to go all along?
Cynthia and John had their dream wedding day all planned out for the Fall of 2020. Well, we all know what happened that year, and how so many weddings had to be canceled or postponed. Unfortunately, Cynthia and John’s wedding was one of those. They were going to have a large wedding in Flagstaff, Arizona, with all of their friends and family. Until they no longer could.
They ended up postponing it and pushing it back until May of 2021. Fast forward to then, with two different wedding days now planned, the pandemic was still complicating things for them in so many different ways. So they decided to change their plans completely. They decided to elope instead.
Now, some people might hear this and see this as a negative, that they no longer were going to have their big, dream wedding. But like I said earlier, I think this is how it was meant to be all along for them.
While the Grand Canyon is epic enough on its own and needs no explanation on why it’s such an incredible spot to get married, it holds much more meaning to Cynthia and John than just being one of the 7 natural wonders of the world.
This is where the two of them met for the very first time.
John is a commercial pilot, and Cynthia was working dispatch there at the Grand Canyon when she heard his voice. He landed his plane and came into the airport where she was working and Cynthia introduced herself. Then as they say, the rest is history.
This places holds such strong meaning to them and is such a vital part in their love story, so having it also be the spot where they officially became husband and wife, just makes it seem like they honestly couldn’t have chosen a more perfect place in the end.
We also got to stop at the Flagstaff airport and take some incredible pictures with John’s plane! I love that we were able to incorporate such a huge part of John’s life into their wedding day- and get some epic airplane pictures at the same time too!
You can see that Cynthia’s daughter was also a part of their ceremony, which just made the whole thing even that much sweeter and emotional. John even read his own vows to her, as he was about to officially become her new dad. After their wedding day, he has since officially adopted her as well which just makes me so beyond happy for them.
As you can imagine with these multiple incredibly epic locations, there are SO many amazing pictures from this day. But for now, here’s just some of my favorites from Cynthia and John’s beautiful and truly magical elopement.
Make sure to scroll all the way through to the bottom, as the pictures get even more beautiful as you go- I promise it’s well worth it for the epic sunset over the Grand Canyon at the end! 😉
